Olena Tankyevych was born on the October, 13, 1983in Odessa, Ukraine. There she studied computer science at the Odessa National Polytechnic University and received B.S. degree in 2004 with a major in system programming.
She obtained her M.S. in 2006 at the Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden) with the thesis on fuzzy segmentation of abdominal tissues from multimodal MRI that was performed at the Uppsala Hospital University, Dep. of Radiology under supervision of Joel Kulleberg and in collaboration with Ingela Nyström at the Center of image analysis.
Later the same year she joined the University of Paris-Est (Paris, France) at the Dep. of informatics, research team of image analysis. There she pursued her Ph.D. with the subject of “Filtering of thin objects. Applications to vascular image analysis.” The supervisers were Hugues Talbot at ESIEE, A3SI and Petr Dokladal at School of Mines of Paris, Centre of the Mathematical Morphology. She has defended her thesis on the 19th of October, 2010. From January till September 2011 she worked in Signal and Image Processing Department (TELECOM ParisTech) as a post-doctoral fellow on medical image analysis methods for creation of children body models as part of KidPocket project.
Since september 2011 she occupies a position of an associate professor at the University Paris-Est Créteil, at the laboratory of images, signals and intelligent systems.
Her scientific interests include image filtering, segmentation and registration, medical imaging and mathematical morphology.
